Spicy Toasted Almonds Recipe

Recipes . . . where pepper grinders and peppercorns are the stars.
OK, well maybe not the stars, but at least one of the key tools and ingredients.

This is a fabulous treat.  It is perfect for snacking on while watching TV or for taking along on a hike.  You can adjust the heat by adding more or less Szechuan Peppercorn Blend and hot pepper sauce.  Enjoy!

 Ingredients:

  • 2 cups whole raw almonds
  • 1 tbsp. olive or almond oil
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. Szechuan Peppercorn Blend

  • 1 tsp. curry powder
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. hot pepper sauce, or to taste

Directions:

  • In a medium-sized skillet bring oil to a medium heat.
  • Add chili powder, curry powder, garlic powder and cook until mixture just starts to bubble.
  • Stir in almonds, tossing until almonds are evenly coated and heated throughout.  (approx 3-5 minutes)
  • Remove from heat and let cool slightly.  (About a minute should do)
  • Stir in pepper sauce and add ground Szechuan Peppercorn Blend.
  • Allow to cool fully before serving.
